One Last Hunt: Jon Bernthal Returns in The Punisher: One Last Kill Official Trailer

With the second season of the Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again halfway through its run, the special presentation The Punisher: One Last Kill will be released one week after this season concludes. The first trailer was released today:

A Marvel Television Special Presentation: The Punisher: One Last Kill will be released on Disney+ on May 12. This special is directed and written by Reinaldo Marcus Green (King Richard), and the actor who plays Frank Castle/The Punisher, Jon Bernthal himself, also participated in the creative process. In addition to Jon Bernthal, Jason R. Moore, a series regular from the Netflix The Punisher series, will return to play Frank's friend Curtis Hoyle. The villain of this special is reportedly Ma Gnucci, a mob boss and enemy of the Punisher from the comics. Furthermore, Robert Elswit, who won an Oscar for There Will Be Blood, will serve as the director of photography for this special.

In the season one finale of Daredevil: Born Again, Frank Castle/The Punisher was originally imprisoned by Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, but he successfully escaped in a post-credits scene. In this special, as Frank Castle searches for meaning beyond revenge, an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight. In addition to Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and this special, the Punisher will also appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which hits theaters in July, making him one of Marvel's key characters this year.

In addition to the trailer above, Marvel also released the following poster:

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is currently premiering on Disney+. This season consists of 8 episodes, with Dario Scardapane continuing as showrunner. The directing duo from last season, Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson, will direct the first two episodes. Directors for other episodes include Iain B. MacDonald (Shantaram) and Angela Barnes (Ironheart). In addition to the returning cast from last season, Krysten Ritter will return to play Jessica Jones, a member of The Defenders; Matthew Lillard (Five Nights at Freddy's) will play the mysterious Mr. Charles; and Lili Taylor (The Conjuring) will play a political rival to Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio).

In the season one finale, New York City Mayor Wilson Fisk declared martial law and used an anti-vigilante task force to crack down on and ban vigilantes. In season 2, Mayor Wilson Fisk crushes New York City underfoot as he hunts down public enemy number one, the Hell’s Kitchen vigilante known as Daredevil. But beneath the horned mask, Matt Murdock will try to fight back from the shadows to tear down the Kingpin’s corrupt empire and redeem his home. Resist. Rebel. Rebuild. Marvel has already renewed the series for a third season, which is planned to premiere next March.

Following Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and The Punisher: One Last Kill, Marvel will release the second season of X-Men '97 this summer, followed by VisionQuest and the second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man at the end of the year. On the film side, they will release Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July and Avengers: Doomsday in December. Marvel also recently announced the renewal of Wonder Man and Marvel Zombies for second seasons.
