Before The Boys: New Prequel Series Vought Rising Unveils Its Cast!
While the final season of The Boys is set to premiere next year and the second season of its first live-action spin-off, Gen V, is due next month, Prime Video is already preparing to shoot its next spin-off series.
Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles from The Boys, along with Ricky Staffieri (The Bear), Brian J. Smith (Sense8), Mason Dye (Stranger Things), and KiKi Layne (The Old Guard series) will star in the prequel series Vought Rising.
The prequel series to The Boys, titled Vought Rising, is set to begin filming this summer. Paul Grellong, the showrunner for The Boys, will serve as the showrunner for this series. Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash will return to reprise their roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively. The show is described as “a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought.” According to an exclusive report from Deadline last week, the cast will also include Elizabeth Posey, Will Hochman, Jorden Myrie, Nicolò Pasetti, Ricky Staffieri (The Bear), Brian J. Smith (Sense8), Mason Dye (Stranger Things), and KiKi Layne (The Old Guard series). Notably, Mason Dye will reportedly appear as his character Bombsight for the first time in the final season of The Boys before the prequel airs.
This will be the third spin-off series for The Boys. Prime Video first launched the animated anthology series The Boys Presents: Diabolical in 2022, with each episode featuring a different animation style to tell stories from the same universe. In 2023, they released Gen V, which follows the lives of super-powered college students and features some cameos from the main series. The second season of Gen V is set to premiere next month. As for the main show, the fifth and final season of The Boys has already finished filming and is expected to premiere next year. Jensen Ackles will return as Soldier Boy, and his former Supernatural co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins will make guest appearances. Daveed Diggs (Snowpiercer) will also star in the final season.
