Fight! First Look at the Live-Action Street Fighter Movie Footage from The Game Awards

During yesterday's Game Awards ceremony, the highly popular fighting video game series Street Fighter released the first footage for its live-action movie adaptation:

The live-action film Street Fighter is scheduled for release in North America on October 16 next year.Directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) and written by Dalan Musson (Captain America: Brave New World), the film is based on the popular fighting video game series of the same name. The cast includes:

Noah Centineo as Ken

Callina Liang as Chun-Li

David Dastmalchian as M. Bison

Cody Rhodes as Guile

Jason Momoa as Blanka

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog

In addition to Street Fighter, another major fighting video game adaptation, Mortal Kombat II, is scheduled for release in North America on May 8 next year. The film was originally scheduled for this October but was unexpectedly delayed in late August to the summer release window next May. This move suggests the studio has high confidence in the movie's potential. It remains to be seen how the two fighting game adaptations will perform at the box office.
