Mortal Kombat II Trailer Unleashed! Street Fighter Movie Cast Revealed!

Four years after the first film, the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat sequel is hitting screens this year, and its first trailer was just released:

Mortal Kombat II is set to premiere in North America on October 24th. Director Simon McQuoid and screenwriter Jeremy Slater return to helm and pen the script, respectively, with portions of the film shot with IMAX-certified digital cameras. In addition to the returning cast from the first movie, Karl Urban (The Boys) will join as Johnny Cage, while Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars Adeline Rudolph and Tati Gabrielle will play Kitana and Jade, respectively. This time, the fan favourite champions are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.

The Mortal Kombat film series is based on the popular video game. The first installment, released in 2021 during the pandemic, debuted simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. It not only exceeded box office expectations for its opening weekend but also broke viewership records on HBO Max. With the pandemic long over and the film industry largely recovered, it remains to be seen how Mortal Kombat II will perform at the box office.

Beyond Mortal Kombat, another hugely popular fighting video game franchise, Street Fighter, is also getting a live-action film adaptation, directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip). Over the past two months, numerous casting reports have surfaced:

Andrew Koji as Ryu

Noah Centineo as Ken

Callina Liang as Chun-Li

David Dastmalchian as M. Bison

Cody Rhodes as Guile

Jason Momoa as Blanka

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog

Orville Peck as Vega

Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki

Roman Reigns as Akuma

Hirooki Goto as E. Honda
