Real-Life Couple Morgan Spector and Rebecca Hall to Lead Netflix’s The Secret of Secrets
After more than a year in development, Netflix’s upcoming series adaptation of Dan Brown’s The Secret of Secrets has finally locked in its leading cast!
Real-life couple Morgan Spector (The Gilded Age) and Rebecca Hall (Godzilla x Kong) will star as Robert Langdon and Katherine Solomon in The Secret of Secrets.
According to exclusive reporting from Deadline, real-life couple Morgan Spector (The Gilded Age) and Rebecca Hall (Godzilla x Kong franchise) will star in The Secret of Secrets as Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon and his romantic partner and noetic scientist Katherine Solomon. Deadline further revealed today that the supporting ensemble features: Emmy winner Cherry Jones (24), Corey Stoll (Ant-Man franchise), Rob Delaney (Bad Monkey) and Abbey Lee (Old). The Netflix series is co-created by the author of the book, Dan Brown, alongside veteran showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan), who will oversee the project as showrunner.
This novel is the sixth installment in the Robert Langdon series. Robert Langdon, esteemed professor of symbology, travels to Prague to attend a groundbreaking lecture by Katherine Solomon—a prominent noetic scientist with whom he has recently begun a relationship. Katherine is on the verge of publishing an explosive book that contains startling discoveries about the nature of human consciousness and threatens to disrupt centuries of established belief. But a brutal murder catapults the trip into chaos, and Katherine suddenly disappears along with her manuscript. Langdon finds himself targeted by a powerful organization and hunted by a chilling assailant sprung from Prague’s most ancient mythology. As the plot expands into London and New York, Langdon desperately searches for Katherine . . . and for answers. In a thrilling race through the dual worlds of futuristic science and mystical lore, he uncovers a shocking truth about a secret project that will forever change the way we think about the human mind.
Three works from the Robert Langdon novel series—Angels & Demons, The Da Vinci Code, and Inferno—were previously adapted into films. These were directed by Academy Award winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), with screenplays by Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind) and David Koepp (Jurassic Park series). Two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks (Philadelphia, Forrest Gump) starred as the protagonist Robert Langdon. The film studio initially planned to bring back the original team to adapt the third novel, The Lost Symbol, into a film, but they reportedly couldn't produce a satisfactory script and abandoned the project. That novel was then adapted into a series in 2021, with the first episode directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane, Predator series) and starring Ashley Zukerman (Fear Street series) as Robert Langdon. Unfortunately, the series was canceled after only one season.
