Telekinetic Terror Returns: First Teaser and Poster for Mike Flanagan’s Carrie Released
Following his acclaimed adaptations of Gerald's Game, Doctor Sleep (the sequel to The Shining), and The Life of Chuck, acclaimed horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan is once again taking on the works of Stephen King. Prime Video showcased the official teaser trailer and promotional key art for his upcoming television series, Carrie, at San Diego Comic-Con.
Carrie is scheduled to premiere on October 7, on Prime Video, with all eight episodes dropping simultaneously worldwide. The series is created and showrun by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House), who also directs four episodes. The ensemble cast features a mix of rising stars and horror veterans:

Misfit high‑schooler Carrie White (Summer H. Howell) has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.

Flanagan has established himself as one of modern horror’s most celebrated voices. His career took off with standalone films like Oculus and Ouija: Origin of Evil before transitioning into a string of acclaimed Netflix horror series—The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, The Midnight Club, and The Fall of the House of Usher. Under his deal with Prime Video, Flanagan is developing multiple high-profile projects. In addition to Carrie, he is preparing a television adaptation of King's epic fantasy-horror saga, The Dark Tower. On the big screen, his DC project Clayface hits theaters this October, while his feature film reboot The Exorcist: Martyrs arrives next March. He is also set to direct a cinematic adaptation of King's novella The Mist.
Stephen King's 1974 novel has a rich history of screen adaptations. Brian De Palma directed the iconic 1976 feature film Carrie, which earned Oscar nominations for both Sissy Spacek (Carrie) and Piper Laurie (Margaret). The story was updated for theaters in 2013 by director Kimberly Peirce, starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, and Oscar winner Julianne Moore.
