Netflix Unveils Stranger Things Final Season Trailer at TUDUM
Netflix's annual TUDUM event today delivered exciting new announcements and trailers for upcoming series and films, including the first teaser for the final season of Stranger Things.
The final season of Stranger Things will consist of eight episodes, released in three parts on Netflix. The first four episodes will debut on November 26th at 8 PM EST, followed by the three episodes on December 25th at 5 PM EST, and the series finale on December 31st at 5 PM EST. At the end of the previous season, the protagonists seemingly defeated the villain Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), but Will (Noah Schnapp) senses his continued survival, and the Upside Down begins to invade the town of Hawkins. Max (Sadie Sink), who died after being severely wounded, was saved by Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) but remains in a coma. The final season takes place in the fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.
In addition to the returning main cast from previous seasons, Linda Hamilton, star of The Terminator series, will also be featured in this season. Series creators and showrunners, the Duffer Brothers, will return to direct and write. Other episode will be directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine),who has directed multiple episodes of Stranger Things previously, Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption), and Dan Trachtenberg (the Predator series). Five of the first six episodes of the fourth season were approximately 75 minutes long, with the final three episodes running for 101, 87, and 142 minutes respectively, essentially feature film length. It is expected that each episode of this final season will also be quite lengthy, almost like eight individual movies.
Stranger Things first premiered on Netflix in 2016 and has consistently been Netflix's most popular English-language program. Each season has broken viewership records, and all four seasons have received Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series. In 2022, Netflix announced that the series would conclude with its fifth season, and the Duffer Brothers are set to produce multiple new series, including a Stranger Things spin-off and a live-action Death Note series.
