The report indicates that Nicholas Hoult (Superman) was forced to exit after recent shifts in the Harry Potter filming timeline conflicted with two of his prior film commitments. The character plays a central role in the franchise's second entry, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and was portrayed by Kenneth Branagh in the 2002 film adaptation. Principal photography for Season 2 is scheduled to begin this fall. Season 1 staff writer Jon Brown has been promoted to co-showrunner alongside Francesca Gardiner (His Dark Materials).
The series promises a faithful decade-long adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s seven books, dedicating one full season per novel. Season 1 adapts Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and premieres on Crave in Canada on December 25, 2026. The debut season features direction on select episodes by Emmy winner Mark Mylod (Succession) and an original score by two-time Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer (Dune, The Lion King).
