Ahsoka’ Season 2 Teaser Drops at D23 Ahead of January 2027 Premiere
At last weekend's D23 Expo, Lucasfilm joined studios like Marvel and Pixar to showcase its upcoming slate, debuting the first official teaser trailer and key art poster for Ahsoka Season 2!
Ahsoka Season 2 will premiere globally on Disney+ on January 20, 2027. Dave Filoni—Lucasfilm’s Chief Creative Officer and President—returns as creator and showrunner. Along with the core returning cast, Rory McCann (Game of Thrones) steps into the role of former Jedi Knight Baylan Skoll, succeeding the late Ray Stevenson. Additionally, Admiral Ackbar and Star Wars Rebels protagonist Zeb Orrelios (voiced by Steve Blum) will make appearances this season.
Continuing the narrative setup from Star Wars Rebels, Season 1 focused on Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and her allies searching for Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), while laying the groundwork for the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). By the end of the first season:
Thrawn escaped the planet Peridea and headed to Dathomir, the home world of the Nightsisters.
Ezra also escaped and reunited with General Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead).
Baylan Skoll discovered massive statues of the Mortis Gods on Peridea. Season 2 is expected to dive deeper into the origins of the Force, bringing back the Father, the Son, and the Daughter from Star Wars animation lore.
Ahsoka and her apprentice Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) remain stranded on Peridea, setting up a likely rematch with Baylan.
Debuting in 2023, Ahsoka forms part of the interconnected live-action TV timeline alongside The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. While Lucasfilm previously announced a crossover feature film directed by Dave Filoni to tie these storylines together, the mixed box-office reception of The Mandalorian & Grogu—which grossed under $350 million worldwide—has sparked discussion regarding Lucasfilm's long-term theatrical roadmap.
