Festival Darlings ‘Club Kid,’ ‘Paper Tiger,’ and ‘Josephine’ Unveil Teaser Trailers
As late August approaches and the summer box office winds down, major film distributors are kicking off fall promotional campaigns for three anticipated titles that premiered at the Cannes and Sundance film festivals.
Club Kid, North American Release Date: November 6
Written, directed by, and starring Jordan Firstman (I Love LA), the film co-stars Cara Delevingne (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Killing Eve) and Diego Calva (Babylon). The creative team features cinematographer Adam Newport-Berra, the Creative Arts Emmy winner for The Studio, and composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer, the three-time Creative Arts Emmy winner for The White Lotus.
For Peter Green (Jordan Firstman), a promoter and purveyor of… shall we say… stimulating party favours in the queer New York club scene, the party never stops. Each revelry blurs into the next, with restraint and responsibility perpetually foisted upon others, especially his fed-up business partner Sophie (Cara Delevingne). But on the precipice of losing another decade to the rhythm of the night, reality bites in the form of his surprise parentage to 10-year-old Arlo (Reggie Absolom), the result of a half-remembered hookup. When his mother unexpectedly dies, the boy is thrust straight into Peter’s carousing care.
Paper Tiger, North American Release Date: November 13
Written and directed by James Gray (Ad Astra), the film stars Venice Best Actor winner Adam Driver (Star Wars sequel trilogy), BAFTA Best Actress winner Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation), and Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick). Following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May, the crime-drama has been selected as the opening film for the upcoming New York Film Festival in September.

Josephine, North American Release Date: November 20
Written and directed by Beth de Araújo, Josephine stars Channing Tatum (Deadpool & Wolverine), Gemma Chan (Eternals), and Philip Ettinger (First Reformed). The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, sweeping both the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award—a double-win previously achieved by Oscar Best Picture nominees and winners Minari and CODA.
When eight-year-old Josephine (Mason Reeves) and her father Damien (Channing Tatum) walk through Golden Gate Park one morning, they witness a disturbing incident. Though her father manages to stop the attack, the event leaves Josephine emotionally scarred. In the aftermath, Damien enrolls Josephine in martial arts to help her reclaim her sense of power, while her mother Claire (Gemma Chan) advocates for therapy and insists she testify in court. Caught between her parents’ conflicting approaches and still struggling to process her trauma, Josephine begins acting out violently at school and becomes hypervigilant, constantly scanning her surroundings for threats.
