Top Gun: Maverick Team! F1® Main Trailer Released!!
One of this year's most anticipated films, F1®, has released its latest trailer!
F1® will hit cinemas on June 27th in North America and will be available on Apple TV+ later this year. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) and written by him and Ehren Kruger, who also penned Top Gun: Maverick. The star-studded cast includes Academy Award winner Brad Pitt (Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood), Damson Idris, BAFTA winner Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Emmy winner Tobias Menzies (The Crown), BAFTA winner Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve), and Academy Award winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men). The behind-the-scenes team is equally impressive, featuring Academy Award-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda (Life of Pi), Academy Award-winning editor of Traffic, and Academy Award-winning composer of The Lion King and Dune, Hans Zimmer.
Dubbed “the greatest that never was,” Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) was FORMULA 1’s most promising phenom of the 1990s until an accident on the track nearly ended his career. Thirty years later, he’s a nomadic racer-for-hire when he’s approached by his former teammate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), owner of a struggling FORMULA 1 team that is on the verge of collapse. Ruben convinces Sonny to come back to FORMULA 1 for one last shot at saving the team and being the best in the world. He’ll drive alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s hotshot rookie intent on setting his own pace. But as the engines roar, Sonny’s past catches up with him and he finds that in FORMULA 1, your teammate is your fiercest competition — and the road to redemption is not something you can travel alone. Production for the film began in the summer of 2023 and was shot entirely with IMAX-certified digital cameras. Some scenes were even filmed during the British Grand Prix, with other filming locations including the Grand Prix circuits in Hungary, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Mexico, the United States, and Abu Dhabi. The production team also collaborated with Mercedes' racing team to build the vehicles seen in the film. So it is expected that the racing sequences will look as realistic as the fighter jet scenes in Top Gun: Maverick.
In addition, Apple has released the following poster:
Since its launch in 2019, the streaming video platform Apple TV+ has released numerous noteworthy films, including the Academy Award winner for Best Picture, CODA, Joel Coen's The Tragedy of Macbeth, Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon, and Ridley Scott's Napoleon. Following F1®, they will also release Spike Lee's Highest 2 Lowest this September. Compared to other streaming platforms, Apple TV+ has more collaborations with traditional film studios, allowing their films to be released on the big screen. For example, F1® is being distributed globally by Warner Bros.
After completing the promotional work for F1®, Brad Pitt is reportedly set to star in a sequel to Once Upon A Time… in Hollywood titled The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth. The film is written by Quentin Tarantino, who was originally intended to direct but later cancelled his plans before the film officially went into production. The film eventually landed with Golden Globe-winning director of The Social Network, David Fincher, and will be available on Netflix. This sequel will focus on Brad Pitt's character, Cliff Booth, as he becomes a fixer for Hollywood studios, and Leonardo DiCaprio, the lead actor in the first film, may also make a cameo appearance.
