Final Season of The Sandman Debuts in July – Official Trailer Released!
Nearly three years later, The Sandman is finally returning for its second—and unfortunately, final—season this July. Netflix has just dropped the official trailer for the highly anticipated conclusion.
The first six episodes of The Sandman Season 2/Final Season will be available on Netflix starting July 3rd. Episodes seven through eleven will follow on July 24th, with a special bonus episode arriving on July 31st. The series, an adaptation of the DC comic book series of the same name, has original comic author Neil Gaiman involved in its creation. However, Gaiman was involved in a sexual misconduct controversy last year, and another series he created, Good Omens, was also canceled, leading to speculation as to whether The Sandman's conclusion is related.
After a fateful reunion with his family, Dream of the Endless (Tom Sturridge) must face one impossible decision after another as he attempts to save himself, his kingdom, and the waking world from the epic fallout of his past misdeeds. To make amends, Dream must confront longtime friends and foes, gods, monsters, and mortals. But the path to forgiveness is full of unexpected twists and turns, and true absolution may cost Dream everything.
In addition to the returning cast from the first season, new actors joining this season include:
Olivier Award winner Adrian Lester as Dream's brother, Destiny
Esmé Creed-Miles (Hanna) as Dream's sister, Delirium
Barry Sloane (Revenge) as Dream's estranged family member, The Prodigal
Ruairi O’Connor (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) as Dream's child, Orpheus
Freddie Fox (House of the Dragon) as Loki
Clive Russell (Outlander) as Odin
Laurence O’Fuarain (The Witcher: Blood Origin) as Thor
Other new additions to the cast include Ann Skelly (The Nevers), Douglas Booth (Jupiter Ascending), Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones), Indya Moore (Pose), and Steve Coogan (Joker: Folie à Deux).
The Sandman's first season premiered in August 2022, adapting the first eighteen chapters of the comic series, and was one of Netflix's most popular English-language shows that year. Netflix has also previously released the titles for all episodes of this season, some of which match the original comic's chapter titles, suggesting direct adaptations of those storylines:
Episode 1: Season of Mists (comic book #21-28)
Episode 2: The Ruler of Hell
Episode 3: More Devils Than Vast Hell Can Hold
Episode 4: Brief Lives (comic book #41-49)
Episode 5: The Song of Orpheus (comic book special issue)
Episode 6: Family Blood
Episode 7: Time and Night
Episode 8: Fuel for the Fire
Episode 9: The Kindly Ones (comic book #57-69)
Episode 10: Long Live the King
Episode 11: A Tale of Graceful Ends
Special Episode: Death: The High Cost of Living (comic book spin-off series)
