Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer Hunt Replicants in First Blade Runner 2099 Trailer
As the annual San Diego Comic-Con wraps up, major studios have spent the past few days showcasing their upcoming slates of film and television projects. Taking center stage at their panel, Amazon released the first official trailer for their sci-fi event series, Blade Runner 2099.
The limited series Blade Runner 2099 is locked in to premiere globally on November 25 on Prime Video, with all eight episodes dropping simultaneously. Created and showrun by Silka Luisa (Shining Girls), the first two episodes are directed by Jonathan van Tulleken, who previously helmed episodes of the critically acclaimed series Shōgun. The series boasts an impressive lead cast:

Adapted from sci-fi master Philip K. Dick’s classic novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the Blade Runner franchise began with Ridley Scott’s seminal 1982 film. The original earned three technical BAFTA Awards and is widely revered as one of the greatest science fiction films in cinematic history. Denis Villeneuve (Dune) helmed the 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049. While underperforming at the box office, it earned critical acclaim and picked up two Academy Awards for Best Cinematography (Roger Deakins) and Best Visual Effects. The universe was previously expanded through three prequel short films bridging the gap between 2019 and 2049, as well as the 2021 animated series Blade Runner: Black Lotus, which took place in the year 2032.
