From Road Rage to Country Clubs: Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan Lead Star-Studded Beef Season 2
After a three-year wait, the second season of the Netflix anthology series Beef will be released next week. This season features several award-winning actors in the lead roles.
Beef Season 2 will be released on Netflix on April 16. This season consists of eight episodes, with the showrunner and director of the previous season, Lee Sung Jin, continuing as showrunner. Jake Schreier, who directed Thunderbolts* and some episodes of the previous season, will also direct several episodes. As an anthology series, this season's story is unrelated to the last and centers on a new group of characters. This season's lead cast includes Golden Globe Best Actor winner Oscar Isaac (Show Me a Hero), BAFTA Best Actress winner Carey Mulligan (An Education), Charles Melton (Warfare), Cannes Best Actress winner Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), and Oscar winner Youn Yuh-jung (Minari). Song Kang-ho, the Cannes Best Actor winner from Broker, will also make a cameo appearance.
A Gen-Z couple witnesses an alarming fight between their Millennial boss and his wife. Newly-engaged Ashley Miller (Cailee Spaeny) and Austin Davis (Charles Melton), both lower-level staff at a country club, become entangled in the unraveling marriage of their General Manager, Joshua Martín (Oscar Isaac), and his wife, Lindsay Crane-Martín (Carey Mulligan). Through favors and coercion, both couples vie for the approval of the elitist club's billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park (Youn Yuh-jung), who struggles to manage her own scandal involving her second husband, Doctor Kim (Song Kang-ho).
The first season of Beef premiered in 2023, starring Steven Yeun, Ali Wong, Joseph Lee, Young Mazino, David Choe, and Patti Yasutake. It received excellent reviews and won several Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Lead Actor (Steven Yeun), Outstanding Lead Actress (Ali Wong), Outstanding Writing (Lee Sung Jin), and Outstanding Directing (Lee Sung Jin).
