Jesse Eisenberg Unveils First Trailer for The Debut Starring Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti

Following up on his acclaimed feature A Real Pain two years ago, Jesse Eisenberg is returning with his latest project, The Debut, bringing together Academy Award winner Julianne Moore and Golden Globe winner Paul Giamatti.

The Debut is written, directed by, and stars Jesse Eisenberg (A Real Pain). The high-profile ensemble cast features Oscar Best Actress winner Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Golden Globe Best Actor winner Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers), Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid), Havana Rose Liu, Colton Ryan, Lilli Cooper, Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock), and Golden Globe Best Actress winner Bernadette Peters.

Eisenberg, widely recognized for his starring roles in Zombieland, Now You See Me, the DC Extended Universe, and his Oscar-nominated performance in The Social Network, transitioned into filmmaking in 2022. The Debut marks his third feature film behind the camera. His previous directorial effort, 2024's A Real Pain, was a major critical success, earning Kieran Culkin an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and securing a BAFTA Award for Best Original Screenplay for Eisenberg himself.

While A24 has yet to lock in an official theatrical release date for The Debut, the film is widely expected to make its premiere on the fall festival circuit between August and October. Depending on its initial critical reception, a late-2026 or early-2027 release window is likely, positioning both Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti as strong contenders for the upcoming awards season.
