Jeon Do-yeon to Star! Lee Chang-dong to Direct Netflix Film Possible Love!
Seven years after his last film, Burning, director Lee Chang-dong's new project is finally underway!
Lee Chang-dong's new film on Netflix, Possible Love (working title), is officially in production. The movie stars Jeon Do-yeon, Sol Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong.
Netflix has announced that Lee Chang-dong's new film, Possible Love (working title), is officially in production. The film, directed by Lee Chang-dong—the Venice Best Director winner for Oasis—follows the intertwined lives of two married couples leading completely opposite lives. As their worlds collide, fractures begin to appear in their daily existence. It is is set to explore themes of life, conflict, and human experience through the detailed changes the characters face. Jeon Do-yeon, the Cannes Best Actress winner for Secret Sunshine, and Sol Kyung-gu (The Book of Fish), a three-time Blue Dragon Film Award Best Actor winner, will play one of the couples. Meanwhile, Zo In-sung, a Baeksang Arts Award winner for Something Happened in Bali, and Cho Yeo-jeong, a Blue Dragon Film Award Best Actress winner for Parasite, will star as the other couple.
Lee Chang-dong is considered one of the most influential South Korean directors in international cinema today. His early films, including Green Fish, Peppermint Candy, and Secret Sunshine, won him major Korean film awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay. He later won the Venice Film Festival's Silver Lion for Best Director for Oasis and Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival for Poetry. His last two films, Poetry and Burning, both won the Grand Bell Award for Best Film. This year, Burning was ranked 40th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 best films of the 21st century.
