Four Hours of Fury: Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair Trailer and Poster Unveiled

Kill Bill is returning to theaters, and this is no ordinary re-release. It's the integrated version, Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, which combines Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2 with never-before-seen animated footage.

Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will be released in North America on December 5, with select theaters offering screenings in 35mm and 70mm film. The film clocks in at 281 minutes (including a 15-minute intermission) as it merges Kill Bill: Volume 1 and Kill Bill: Volume 2 and includes previously unreleased animated segments produced by Production I.G, the animation studio behind Kaiju No. 8. The film is written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, and stars Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, David Carradine, Sonny Chiba, Julie Dreyfus, Chiaki Kuriyama, Gordon Liu, and Michael Parks. Three-time Oscar winner Robert Richardson served as Director of Photography, Wu-Tang Clan member RZA composed the score, and six-time Hong Kong Film Awards Best Action Choreography winner Yuen Woo-Ping served as the action choreographer. The Bride wakes up after a coma. The baby that she carried before is gone. The only thing on her mind is revenge on the assassins that betrayed her - a team she was once part of.

Quentin Tarantino originally wrote and shot Kill Bill as a single film. During post-production, however, to avoid major cuts, he agreed to split the movie into two volumes, which were released six months apart in 2003 and 2004. The two films collectively grossed over $300 million worldwide and are considered one of the best martial arts films in cinema history, as well as one of the best films of the 21st century so far. Tarantino later integrated the two parts, adding the new animation footage, to create Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. This version has had limited screenings over the years, including at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival, his own New Beverly Cinema in 2011, and his Vista Theatre this year.

Since 2019's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino has yet to release any new work. He has consistently stated his plan to retire after directing his tenth film. Since the two Kill Bill films are counted as a single film, his next film will be his tenth and likely final directorial effort. He had originally planned to start shooting his next film, The Movie Critic, earlier this year, but ultimately shelved the project and is reportedly now working on a stage play script.

Although Tarantino's next directed film will not be released anytime soon, audiences will be able to see a continuation of his work next year with a sequel to the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, The Adventures of Cliff Booth. The film is directed by Golden Globe winner David Fincher (The Social Network) and set to debut on Netflix next year. The film will center on Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), who becomes a fixer for Hollywood studios. Timothy Olyphant will return as 1960s TV actor James Stacy, and the male lead of the orignal film, Leonardo DiCaprio, is rumored to have a cameo. The sequel will also feature new actors, including Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen), Emmy winner Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown), Scott Caan (Hawaii Five-0), Carla Gugino (The Haunting of Hill House), Holt McCallany (Mindhunter), and JB Tadena.
