The Last of Us Season 2, New Game of Thrones Spinoff! HBO Releases New Footage for Upcoming 2024-2025 Shows!!

After the second season of Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon recently aired its finale, HBO and its streaming platform, Max, have taken the opportunity to release the following trailer to promote their upcoming shows in 2024 and 2025.

The following highly anticipated series will premiere on HBO and Max later this year:

Industry Season 3, to premiere on HBO on August 11

A group of young graduates compete for a limited set of permanent positions at a top investment bank in London – but the boundaries between colleague, friend, lover, and enemy soon blur as they immerse themselves in a company culture defined as much by sex, drugs, and ego as it is by deals and dividends. As members of the group rise and fall, they must decide whether life is about more than the bottom line. In addition to the stars of the last two seasons, this season's cast includes Kit Harington (Game of Thrones) and Sarah Goldberg (Barry).

The show has been getting better and better reviews season after season, and the third season has been lauded as the best season so far, with an average score of 87 on Metacritic, making it one of the best shows of the year.

The Penguin, to premiere on HBO on September 19

This Batman spinoff miniseries takes place one week after the film and centers on the rise of Oswald Cobblepot (Colin Farrell) in the mob world. The series is written by Lauren LeFranc, the writer of the Marvel series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and directed by Craig Zobel, a director of The Leftovers, and Helen Shaver, a director of Vikings.

In addition to Colin Farrell's return, the series also stars Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs) as Sofia, the daughter of mob boss Carmine Falcone (John Turturro) and Rhenzy Feliz (Runsaway). Other cast members include Michael Kelly (House of Cards), Shohreh Aghdashloo (Renfield), Clancy Brown (John Wick: Chapter 4), James Madio (Band of Brothers), Michael Zegen (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Theo Rossi (Luke Cage), Carmen Ejogo (True Detective) and Mark Strong (the Kingsman film series).

Dune: Prophecy, to premiere on HBO in November

This prequel to Dune takes place 10,000 years before the movie and tells the origin story of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood. The series was written by Alison Schapker, a writer of Fringe, and directed by Anna Foerster, the director of Lou. The series stars Emily Watson (Chernobyl), Olivia Williams (Counterpart), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Mark Strong (the Kingsman film series), Jade Anouka (His Dark Materials), Chris Mason, Cannes Best Actress Jodhi May, Josh Heuston and Indian actress Tabu (Life of Pi).

The Franchise, to premiere on HBO in 2024

The comedy is written by Armando Iannucci, the creator of three-time Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Comedy Series, Veep, Keith Akushie, and Jon Brown, a writer of Succession, and directed by Sam Mendes, the director of 1917. The series centers around the behind-the-scenes production of a superhero movie. The comedy stars Billy Magnussen (Aladdin), Jessica Hynes, Darren Goldstein, Lolly Adefope, Isaac Cole Powell (American Horror Story), Himesh Patel (Yesterday) and Aya Cash (The Boys), while Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) and Daniel Brühl ( Helmut Zemo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) also have recurring roles.

Creature Commandos, to premiere on Max in December

This animated series centers on the characters from DC Comics and is the first installment of the rebooted DC Universe, with James Gunn, the director of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy film series and the co-chairman of the DC Studios, serving as the showrunner. Viola Davis (The Suicide Squad) returns as Amanda Waller, who enlists a team of monsters to complete her secret missions. In addition to Viola Davis, Steve Agee (Peacemaker) and the director's brother, Sean Gunn, return as A.R.G.U.S. agent John Economos and Weasel, a member of the Suicide Squad, respectively. Gunn also plays the role of G.I. Robot. Other cast members of the series include Maria Bakalova (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Anya Chalotra (The Witcher), Zoë Chao (The Afterparty), Frank Grillo (Crossbones in the Marvel Cinematic Universes), David Harbour (Stranger Things), Alan Tudyk (Rogue One) and Indira Varma (Game of Thrones). Grillo plays team leader Rick Flag Sr., who is the father of the leader of the Suicide Squad, Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman). He will also return for the second season of Peacemaker, which is currently in production, and the live-action Superman movie.

The White Lotus Season 3

After winning a slew of awards for its first two seasons, including Emmy awards for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress (Jennifer Coolidge), the third season of the comedy series will take place in a resort in Thailand and will feature a cast that includes Leslie Bibb (Jupiter's Legacy), Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), Scott Glenn (The Leftovers), Christian Friedel (The Zone of Interest), Walton Goggins (Fallout), Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter film series). Blackpink member Lalisa Manobal, Michelle Monaghan (the Mission Impossible film series), Parker Posey (The Staircase), Patrick Schwarzenegger (The Staircase) and Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education.) Natasha Rothwell will also return as Belinda from the first season.

Duster

Created by LaToya Morgan, a writer of The Walking Dead, and J. J. Abrams, the director of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, this crime thriller marks the first time the latter has written a drama in more than a decade. The series, directed by Steph Green, the director of the winner of Emmy Award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series,Watchmen, centers on the first black female FBI agent and a getaway driver who took down a crime syndicate. The two leads are played by Rachel Hilson (Red, White & Royal Blue) and Josh Holloway (Lost) respectively, while other actors include Keith David (Nope) and Greg Grunberg (Heroes).

It – Welcome to Derry

This prequel series to It is created by Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman) and Brad Kane (Warrior), and directed by Andy Muschietti, the director of the two latest It films. The cast includes Jovan Adepo (3 Body Problem), Chris Chalk (Perry Mason), Taylour Paige (Independent Spirit Award winner for Best Female Lead for Zola), James Remar (Black Lightning) and Stephen Rider (Daredevil), while Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

The second Game of Thrones spinoff series after House of the Dragon, this series is based on the novellas Tales of Dunk and Egg, which takes place ninety years before Game of Thrones and revolves around the adventures of Daenerys Targaryen's great-grandfather, Aegon V Targaryen, and Ser Duncan the Tall. Created by George R. R. Martin, the author of the novel series, this series is directed by Owen Harris, who directed the Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie winning Black Mirror episode San Junipero, and Sarah Adina Smith, who won the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing – Miniseries or TV Film for Lesson in Chemistry.

The Last of Us Season 2

After a critically acclaimed debut season, the series will be based on part 2 of the video game series. The seven-episode season will feature the same directors and writers from the first season, as well as new directors including Kate Herron from the first season of the Marvel series Loki, Mark Mylod, who won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for Succession, and Stephen Williams, who directed Lost.

In addition to returning stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, the cast of Season 2 includes Rutina Wesley (True Blood), Kaitlyn Dever (Dopesick), Young Mazino (Beef), Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), Danny Ramirez (the new Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), Ariela Barer (Runaways), Tati Gabrielle (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Catherine O'Hara (Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Schitt's Creek), and Jeffrey Wright (Westworld).
