Frankenstein's Bride! The First Trailer and Poster for The Bride! Revealed!!

Following the Frankenstein film this November, another movie inspired by the same gothic novel, The Bride!, is set to be released next year.

The Bride! is set to premiere in North America on March 6 of next year. The film is directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Lost Daughter) and is based on the 90-year-old movie Bride of Frankenstein. It stars Jessie Buckley (I'm Thinking of Ending Things) as Frankenstein's bride and former Batman actor and Golden Globe winner Christian Bale (Vice) as Frankenstein's monster. The cast also includes the director's husband, Venice Best Actor winner Peter Sarsgaard (The Batman, Memory), BAFTA Best Actress winner Annette Bening (American Beauty), the director's brother, BAFTA winner Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain), and Oscar winner Penélope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona). The score will be composed by Oscar winner Hildur Guðnadóttir (Joker).

A lonely Frankenstein (Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance! Jessie Buckley was nominated for an Oscar for her role in Gyllenhaal's previous film, The Lost Daughter. She has also received great reviews for her performance in Hamnet this year and is considered a strong contender for next year's Oscar Best Actress , making her performance in The Bride! highly anticipated.

Warner Bros also released the first posters for the film.

Bride of Frankenstein was a sequel to the 1931 film Frankenstein, and both were based on Mary Shelley's gothic novel. The novel has been adapted into films and series many times. Universal Pictures, for example, had planned to launch a "Dark Universe" film franchise with the 2017 film The Mummy. Bride of Frankenstein was meant to be the second film in that universe, with Bill Condon directing and Oscar winner Angelina Jolie (Girl, Interrupted) and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men) attached to star as the Bride and Frankenstein's monster, respectively. However, due to The Mummy's poor box office and reviews, both the "Dark Universe" and its Bride of Frankenstein project were canceled.

Another adaptation, the film Frankenstein, written and directed by Oscar Best Director winner Guillermo del Toro (Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, The Shape of Water), is set to be released on Netflix this November. Golden Globe winner Oscar Isaac (Show Me a Hero) stars as Victor Frankenstein, while Jacob Elordi (Euphoria) plays the monster. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival last month to good reviews.
